This case in 42 mm could be an excellent base indeed. UN is making some very nice dials.
Hereafter my ideas, I am talking about the dial only, without looking at the sometimes different case in the below photos...
How about an enamel grand feu dial, either plain or guilloché or soleillé, either in a nice deep blue colour or in black, of course NO date whatever the iteration imho, that should be fantastic looking, what do you think ?...
Enamel grand feu guilloché of course without tourbillon (and with your suggested case not this one)
Or this one in enamel soleillé (or just plain lacquered enamel) with no date in blue blue or black

Might I ask for hand wound, eight days based on the magnificent UN118? A 42 mm should be possible, I mean, JLC did eight day calibers in 41.5mm. So: Grand Feu, blue markers, red accents, perhaps no date but no deal breaker and eight days. That's not too m...

Unfortunately the 44mm case would not work for me (I tried it already at the AD). If I could wish it would be for me: - the 42 mm case - the dial (or at least the same color combination) of the 1st version you show - no date - this beautiful engraved case...

Your two example do represent amazing dial indeed. The only drawback i find in the case of the second example (the non tourbillon) is that legibility is not that good under certain lighting ...

44 mm is too big.
The narrow bezel makes the watch wear even larger than its actual size. For a community watch, I'd love a piece similar to this Singapore Watch Club edition in black enamel except with Arabic numerals. About 40mm would be just right. 😄 M4 ...

I look at a bunch of Marine Torpilleurs. 42mm will be perfect. I prefer the grey dial with golden hands.
Not a bad idea
The Marine Torpilleur is a good start. I thought about a community brand, bought by us for us. For example Vulcain. Choosing for Ulysse Nardin is a good one. Is another model also good? Keep me informed, i will chose the Marine Torpilleur of choice.
