I would not regard these watches as incomprehensible. They are fantastic mechanical representations of how our solar system functions. This understanding has been developed over the past 300+ years, and then interpreted by Mr. Oechslin when he worked to create the Trilogy for Ulysse Nardin. He used an existing clock for creating the Astrolabium. It is really the multiplicity of hands with rotating dials that challenges our mind to recall each relevant indication. We are so accustomed to seeing time as just a moment-- interpreted by the hours, minutes, seconds and date indications on our watches-- that we tend to ignore the horologic relevance of time. Hmm maybe this is incomprehensible!?
