. . . with red palm forearm and butt. The shaft is made from grenadillo . . .
. . . fitted with a G-10 ferrule and a laminated hard Kamuii tip, optimal for breaking. Bob had a grenadillo dowel in his shop that I asked to be made into a break shaft after discerning* its tonal quality. Turns out that grenadillo is recognized as a tone wood by instrument makers, particularly for marimbas.
* The method I use for determining the resonant quality of lumber is to rap it on top of my head.

And please forgive my ignorance but does that mean you use this cue just for the break and then change to another cue? Maybe lighter or less dense woods?

We used to use purpleheart for the hard thole pin in rowing. You’d break the oar or the boat before the pin. Still some worn ones in circulation, I’ll take a photo next time I’m at the boat shed.
Twenty pool cues including the cue coming today . . .
. . . plus one currently under construction with several more planned and a snooker cue. Not to mention four currently being made for others on my behalf. Nine in my circle of friends owns a Denali, including two that you know.

...I always wanted a pool table at the house because they look great and are fun to play around on. But my wife always nixed it, and even with a decent-size house the space is limited : (
