. . . with red palm forearm and butt. The shaft is made from grenadillo . . .
. . . fitted with a G-10 ferrule and a laminated hard Kamuii tip, optimal for breaking. Bob had a grenadillo dowel in his shop that I asked to be made into a break shaft after discerning* its tonal quality. Turns out that grenadillo is recognized as a tone wood by instrument makers, particularly for marimbas.
