thank you very much for your kind comments! Indeed, our "Chagall" is a Groenendael. I used "Belgian Sheepdog" since I had heard that in the States, the term Groenendael is not commonly used, unlike the names of the other Belgian breeds. Also over here, the Groenendael is increasingly rare, especially compared with the Malinois, which is becoming very popular, due to its omnipresence in police service. In Austria, there are only three Groenendael breeders, compared with two dozen Malinois breeders. Tervuerens are rare now, too, represented by only four breeders. Our dog is from Hungary, became national show champion and is worked with in agility and obedience by my wife.
The Celtic artwork on our truck is not painted, they are large stickers. I had handdrawn designs, which I converted to vector graphics and after some reworking scaled to the right dimensions. A friend of mine has a business where he prints those huge images that are hung on buildings. He printed the designs on a self-adhesive foil. The lion is Saint Marcus' lion, taken from an anglo-saxon manuscript that was presumably written in Lindisfarne, then brought to the continent, to save it from the frequent Viking assaults. It is now held in Paris, and this specific lion depiction is very famous. Since it is the sign of my name patron, I use it sometimes.
With best regards,
Marcus
