Looks like a bakelite bezel in amazing condition
Did you know that during WW2 the American government
was experimenting with making a bakelite penny? They
wound up making steel pennies in 1943. They needed the
copper for military equipment - shell casings, communication
wires, etc.
Finally made it to the country. An absolutely beautiful evening.
