These mirrorless cameras are meant to be a step up from a p&s but not at the level of a DSLR. IMO, it's nice to be able to change lenses but be very compact, sometimes it's tough to lug around a DSLR. Canon should be announcing something soon, but so ...

A rather disappointing announcement by Nikon IMHO... A new lens system means Nikon users like us won't be able to leverage our existing lens collection. Secondly, smaller sensor and more expensive pricing make me feel like they're trying to rip their fans... 

I'm anxiously awaiting the D800 (or whatever they are calling the D700 replacement), I want a FX really bad. Hopefully Nikon makes the announcement in October. Canon should be releasing info on their products too. -MW
