He managed to ride a fine line, musically, with most of his repertoire. It wasn't derivative or generic, yet it managed to appeal to a wide, diverse audience. I remember him stating just a few years ago how he found his popularity among hip hop and RnB musician pleasantly surprising! The people who made those somewhat ridiculing comments to me were both white, professional musicians . Cheers, Filip

overall, her music is, unsurprisingly, too trendy/poppy for my taste. However, she has an indisputably great voice so my favorite video of hers I found on YouTube was this performance of her Love Again song from a year ago....
