Music for this morning idle.... My all-time favorite singer-songwriter, and my two favorite renditions of his most popular song. I've been equally respected and ridiculed for loving Collins' music, I guess some people feel he was too 'commercial' in his career and efforts, but to me, having even been classically musically educated, all of that is pure nonsense - one loves what one loves and enjoys musically. And I'll always love good ol' Philip Collins. I also read his autobiography relatively recently, and I can recommend that as an excellent book as well........ Enjoy
a Phil Collins record …I like the story about In the Air Tonight" featured in the 2007 Gorilla commercial for Cadbury’s chocolate. Many believed that Collins himself was the drummer. When asked about Gorilla, Collins jokingly commented that "Not only is he a better drummer than me, he also has more hair….Can he sing too !
For many years i listen to Phil Collins and Genesis.
List of personal favorites: In the air tonight. Jesus he loves me. Tonight Tonight Tonight Mamma Land of Confusion That’s all No son of my Home by the sea Abacab Sussudio Easy lover ( me as Earth, Wind and Fire fan like Phil Bailey’s voice superb) Against all odds
I like the train robbery movie and Phil his part in Miami Vice. Frank Zappa also.
Clearly, you are a Major P.C. enthusiast . I have all of his 'main' albums, and all seasons of Miami Vice both on BluRay, and CD soundtrack . Cheers to great music, Filip
Our first CD in house was Invisible Touch. I listen the album to discover CD quality sound back in the days.
Miami Vice, youth memories. Jan Hammer. The best police tv series ever! I mean it. My favorite car is now a LaFerrari, but it was for a very long time the black Ferrari Daytona spider. The white Testarossa was a revolution when i see it for the first time.
By far, my favorite modern composer - he actually has a great YouTube channel where you can find some of his newer releases. I purchased both his 'Sketches in Jazz', and 'Seasons' album. Worthy additions to his musical legacy ....
He managed to ride a fine line, musically, with most of his repertoire. It wasn't derivative or generic, yet it managed to appeal to a wide, diverse audience. Some of the other pop-rock music of the era, despite being appealing, has too much resemblance between one-another. Especially rock song lyrics! Cheers, Filip
I remember him stating just a few years ago how he found his popularity among hip hop and RnB musician pleasantly surprising! The people who made those somewhat ridiculing comments to me were both white, professional musicians . Cheers, Filip
the music very timeless. It is neither exclusively 'retro' feeling, nor something overly experimental in some modern musical context. Thanks Jurry! Filip
overall, her music is, unsurprisingly, too trendy/poppy for my taste. However, she has an indisputably great voice so my favorite video of hers I found on YouTube was this performance of her Love Again song from a year ago....
could possibly manage any more performances/collaborations, his health has been quite troublesome in recent years. I saw him in concert at The Forum in L.A. in 2018, and even then he had to sit-down almost the entire time.... 71 years of age is no joke , Filip
Miami Vice was my gateway to becoming a Phil Phan!

Just so happen to be in downtown Miami tonight. Seeing your Phil Collins post got me a bit nostalgic about this city in 80’s. A bit different today but still a cool town. Can almost see Crockett rolling down the street in the Daytona with Phil in the background. Thanks for the memories!
