I agree with you Steve. Watched the fight with several people who also don't consider the skill in defense as a boxer and only look at the offensive performance. As much as I like De La Hoya he was clearly out boxed. Even so, his performance was admirable but not enough to merit that judge's score. Of all people a judge should recognize Mayweather's defensive prowess and aside from that he outscored him on punching as well.
In addition, Mayweather sports Jacob & Co. watches while De La Hoya wears a Lange. So while De La Hoya out-classes Mayweather, he certainly didn't out box him!
