It's extremely traumatic to see the fires, but the landscape and animals will rebound... we know all too well from the wildfires that have swept across our county over the 50 years I have lived here.

I make a circuit each year through the mountains taking inventory
Other than a few white skeletons, you can't tell there was a giant fire - I think it burned nearly 200,000 acres.
I didn't believe it would come back, but it has, and with lots more color and life than before.

The fires in Colorado continue to burn and get worse, Part of Lyons and Estes Park are under mandatory evacuation orders and there is a fire on the west side of RMNP and the park has been closed to visitors. If that fire continues it could change the park...

The uncertainty of the fires is unsettling and the stress palpable; I’m sorry you and your family are having to deal with this, as well as all the other residents in that region. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

BUT we have found the best time to go is in the fall. Much fewer tourists, as school is back in session and the fall weather is much to cool for many. We like the fall weather, changing Aspens and fewer crowds. Elk are coming down from the high country an...
