Genwa Beverly Hills

After our wonderful experience at Genwa on Wilshire we found out that they opened a branch on restaurant row on La Cienega.  Fellow L.A. PuristS will recognize this spot as the former Woo Lae Oak restaurant many years ago and just a few buildings north of the famous Lawry's Prime Rib.  The menu is very similar to the one at the original location so it was easy to order.

As noted on the previous post, the grill is slightly different.  This one does not have the charcoal but the good thing is that they also have the venting system built into the grill.

That super variety of banchan is present at this Genwa too!  They whip out a bunch of tasty dishes for you to sample.  The Korean pancake was very good as was the seaweed and kim chi.

I'm not a big fan of spicy stuff but they make it so it is not too spicy.

The beef here is as good as the other location...

The marinade they use is too!

Time to get to grilling!

Since we have more peole to join us for this visit, we got a Bimbimbap...a rice dish that is made on a cast iron skillet.  It has slices of veggies and thin cuts of meats that they mix up:

Cold Noodles is a Korean BBQ must have dish so wee tried thier version.  Good but there are other places better.

This time around they serve a sweet rice drink for the complimentary dessert:

What looks like marshmallows is actually a handtowel!  They add hot water to it and it puffs up!

Hello PuristS foodies! Here in the City of Angles it's easy to find good restaurants to dine at. One of my favorite places drastically changed their menu so on the advice of local PuristS I tried some new ones. I really enjoy Korean BBQ so I've been frequ...

Thanks for the great write ups. Having been to both many times, a few thoughts - Wilshire has been consistently much better than La Cienega in Service Taste Even for same dishes. Cant figure out why. Both locations have consistently young good looking ser...

So far so good with Genwa, we head back to the La Cienega location. Unlike the original Genwa, here you can make a reservation ahead of time. The restaurant on Wilshire take only walk ins, they get crazy busy so a long wait (especially on the weekends) ca...

Usually we are stuffed by the end of our meal at Genwa Korean BBQ. Their desserts always looked tempting but we never have enough room. Since ED-209 joined us he ordered a round a ice cream. The Green Tea ice cream was served with a candied ginger jelly a...

Thanks for the report on Genwa. I'm enjoying all these recent food posts from DRMW, Thomas, Dean, cazalea, cen@jkt, and jporos. I kinda like cooking the beef by myself because I like it more charred. So if you were to rank the Korean BBQ places in LA, whi...

IMO the quality there is at the top with places like Park's. We were there last night and as usual the food at Genwa was great and the service was fantstic. Corner Place has a tasty marinated chicken. -MW
