TimeOut

Another Day, Part 2

I moved from House #4 on the garden tour to House #2. (House #3 in the middle was very modern, had large bright artwork and loud music. I passed on the offer of a mai tai and went on to my new assignment.)

It was a much livelier place than #4, and had this terrace with no rail or rim. Imagine scooting this chair back, mai tai or rum punch in hand.  Ayyee ....

I found lots of animal life here. This lizard and I watched each other for some time before he ambled over to a closer and sunnier rock.

I can see he's an old survivor - missing toes, shortened tail, but lovely markings.

A hawk soared overhead, looking for lunch. Lizard is not enough, I think it had to be larger, and warm-blooded.

Statue inedible.

I saw 4-5 hummingbirds but they were pretty elusive until I zeroed in on this one (shooting from behind the agave)

It's really rewarding to get a series of photos like this (to me anyway)

After feeding for awhile, it landed.

He gave me a good looking over,

and must have decided I was harmless. I am harmless and my camera battery was almost dead too, so we left to make a swap.

So many of roses here1

Another American flag.

A type of trumpet vine.

There were hundreds of bees on each African Blue Basil plant (I counted 7 plants).

This monumental eucalyptus overlooks the garden.

Almost time for lunch but nothing looked ripe. The lady of the house did give me a beautiful lemon though. Now I need gin, tonic and ice...

Berries not ready yet. Maybe July-August.

Pomegranates by September-November.

Far across the canyon was the storm drain project we saw the other day:

My shift was over at 1 so I went over to join my wife. We decided to see a few more houses since we were already here.

I will put those in Part 3. Thanks for sticking with us, there's plenty yet to see...
