It’s a bit past 6:30 and planes are taking off from the airport heading Northwest (south of me about 5 miles)

It’s still air and quiet but I hear a man’s voice in the distance. It sounds like he is shouting.

600mm of zoom shows the crew boat and coach following in a motor boat. He’s the one shouting “Put your back into it, boys”

He stops shouting for awhile and I enjoy the stillness. No one around on land, no runners or dogs at this point.

The boats cross in front of me but they are working and not talking.

A flock of birds crosses, going 3x faster than the boat, in the opposite direction. San Diego downtown in the distance.

A crazy flock of Widgeons lives here. They walk around on the grass eating until something spooks them. They then dive for the water and paddle around, then walk back up the slope to the grass again.
At this point they seem to be taking a poll: do we walk or wait?

Poll completed. We walk!

I look down at the sandy slope and realize I have almost "walked into the water while watching the widgeons” Say that three times rapidly!

They have arrrived on the grass and resumed their scavenging.

The sun is getting closer to the horizon.

And it arrives!

Just like we hope it will every morning… it shows up and lights my way back to the truck

I decide not to retrace my footsteps along the shore, and head up to the grass instead.

Where I am shocked to see FROST (oh no!) on the grass. No wonder my fingers are numb.

No moms and kiddies at the play set.

I feel some movement above and scan the trees. Yes. A hawk is looking at me.

I aim the camera at him, his vision is many times better than mine, and he’s on the go immediately. I take three tries to catch him in flight — this is the best I can do.

This light is too bright! I climb in the truck and head for home.

Approaching the freeway, I cross over the San Diego River on our new bridge with the (overkill, extravagant, artistic) lighting

Some cyclists complain about the sun in their eyes. Maybe they have to go at right angles for awhile.

Here are my golden tone Seiko photos.

Thanks for reading today.
