Lipstick on a pig, ok, but on a seagull? Part 1

On a seagull? Of course this is just click-bait to get you to come along on our morning walk. Today we went into Mission Bay, which we haven't visited for a few months.
We were not disappointed.
Action in all directions!
Sun rising, of course, that means fishermen.

And swimmers.
Still water.

We headed over the bridge.

My wife noticed the shadows on the sidewalk electrical access panel went up here.

And down here.
Someone put the cover on wrong way round.
I didn't notice because I had spotted birds (mostly cormorants) and boats.
and more birds.

These are herons, who rule the roost, so to speak.

A tractor lumbered by us. What? He is on his way to groom the sand and scoop up excess seaweed to reduce flies and improve our tourists' satisfaction scores.

We kept walking and came to the Seafood Replenishment Laboratory.

I believe this is the Heron Replenishment Factory.
I spotted my first hummingbird of the day. He was backlit so I manuevered around to get better lighting.

For the first time ever, I was attacked! The hummingbird aimed straight for my head, and I instinctively hit the shutter button, then ducked.

Luckily, both of us survived the attack, intact. And I got a better shot of him too.
Please continue to part 2 of this adventure.
