I did my utmost for a long time. I think a lot of car/watch collectors get the same theme from their partners, in different forms/severity. I have a friend, who had this similar problem initially, but never did he cave in to the pressure, until a friendly compromise was made.
Another prominent collector friend I have, was limited by his wife to 10 pieces maximum. He has to sell off pieces if he wants to get new pieces, so he keeps upgrading the 10 pieces. But I feel this is a bigger waste of money to live by this rule. Selling 2-3 pieces of his collection may cause a loss of 10k and beyond, which could purchase a very decent piece. My friend was very uncomfortable when he told me about this "rule" as I saw him shifting on his chair. Quite amusing to watch men get owned by their wives. As another member told me "Happy Wife, Happy Life"
I'd tell him to add this "don't ask, don't tell"

The things I do to keep a piece I love

This is my least worn piece, somehow. I never connected with it in a way I should. Wanna know why? Because my significant other nags at me to trim my collection when she gets into a bad mood. She picks on this piece because she knows I seldom wear it. Tak...

Ah, it’s a SBGH273

The reference numbers for GS confuse me a lot too. Here are some pieces I had an eye for, but funds are always the limiting factor. Maybe I’d get one in a few weeks time. Pls check these out, they are my favourites for some special reasons: SBGW255 (LE of...

The 231 seems to be a fave. I like it as well..

I find myself, so far, liking the case and handset on the Birch. Pricey though

I tend to like those sleepers

When people start hyping about something; that’s when I withdraw from it. I don’t wanna be seen wearing “trendy” things. Strange aren’t I?

Understandable :-)

Worn and Wound podcasts

I was taking a drive to get some food today and listening to the podcast. They covered so many GS topics, it is delightful to hear them discuss specific pieces. The podcaster mentioned a similar sentiment, that he misses the old days when GS was obscure. ...

I think you missed this one …

Micro-textured dial which is so amazing. That is a rare piece by now. Which other GS pieces are your favourite(s)?

Snowflake and the diver…

I think I'll get her something one day

Somehow many women's minds are wired differently to how they view mechanical watches. They tend to see form, colour, proportions in alternate ways. Somehow, a handbag makes her happier. She likes to walk down streets with her bags. I witnessed other girls...

It’s settled then: another bag it is! 😎

Nice High frequency piece

Yes indeed. I am gonna hold on to this piece (or stash it away temporarily in the worse case scenario). I like your piece too.
