I could not agree more with you about the impact of a strap on how a watch sits on the wrist and also how it looks in terms of lug to lug. I tried the 42mm Fifty Fathoms on the rubber strap and it was significantly smaller than my 40mm Sea Dweller, to the... 

And have tried multiple times over years at their flagship tokyo boutique. I also have small wrists.. close to 15cm but they are flat and wide, so other 43/44mm watches are fine. The lugs on this one are set higher and closer to the dial sapphire than to ... 

On the lugs front, and as the back is almost 100% flat, they are a direct extension of the lower side. On the strap front, I had it custom made and it fits the dial’s nature perfectly. Oh well, tastes are personal as they say 😊
