The polishing really is miles apart
When I first started getting into watches I would always see the comment " you can't compare the two" and it would always drive me up the wall. But after owning a GS, and now owning a Rolex I have to say that the finish on the GS is objectively better than Rolex (I have the YM 40 in blue). That said, I really do believe they approach watches and watchmaking in such a fundamentally different way that comparing them can be difficult.
I will say that I am absolutely in love with their new movement and can't wait to see it in more watches.
Grand Seiko White Birch
Just received my Grand Seiko White Birch. First time I purchase a Grand Seiko, and must say what a finishing: without any doubt better then Rolex,... Price/quality wise best on the market! Look at the finishing of the hands, of the white birch dial itself...

I couldn’t agree with you more. Amazing finishing, which rivals the best of the haute horologie brands (let alone Rolex). And the movement is ‘next level’ Nice pick up. Enjoy it
I looked at one the other day, for the record it's about 40% more expensive than a Datejust.
I've never seen anyone post about their new Rolex while comparing it to GS within a sentence or two 😌

Bothe Rolex and GS make excellent watches, This model has a High. Beat movement for amazing time consistency. One nice thing for now you can actually get GS watches and they are wonderful timepieces .
