SHAC (Silver Hard Alloy Cobalt)

Mar 11, 2024,00:05 AM

Hey, I’m the Seiko moderator and I never had heard this acronym before, so had to look it up.

Here’s a watch that was listed on another site - he had to practically give it away.

And another.

I can live with this style - why not?

Well - because it would be like buying a cassette deck or CD-ROM burner 🔥 … but that never stopped me before.

So maybe a Credor SHAC?

Seiko has been one of the early entrants to partnering with various entertainment franchises. Here goes a not often worn Seiko 2220-0630 Playboy, complete with a relatively slim Chariot handwound movement, a SHAC ultra hard case (practically pristine afte...

Isn't it crazy what a wide range of watches Seiko has come up with?

Just 3 off the top of my Seiko shelf this morning. ...

In that respect your collection is a lot more varied, still!

about the SHAC cases, it looks like new after 50 years, wonderful! Wonder why they are not making more of these… beautiful watch by the way.

Good question why SHAC stopped being made…

Could be the cost 🤷🏻‍♂️ Several manufacturers went down similar routes, Rado being perhaps best known. Many ended up with ceramics…

Sad though

I’d like to own a SHAC cased watch. Though given how well it preserves itself regular people might stop buying watches thinking their watch is as new and shiny as its first day, so why bother buying a new one.

Possibly the reason why they stopped 😁🤷🏻‍♂️

I have three and all are similarly pristine 😊👍🏻
