With all respects to the original poster, I think the repair cost is a little inaccurate.
I have repaired non chronograph Seiko watches from the same time period (3M22-0D39) and it ranged from 100-200.
Additionally I currently have an SLQ-007 (similar to the poster's) Steel version in for overhaul and replacement of power storage and was quoted 25 000 yen which is a bit over 200 dollars. I think they will only do maintenance on these in Japan though, which is convenient since I lived in Tokyo and handed it in to the Seiko HQ myself after inquiring on the prices a couple of weeks in advance. The overhaul takes about a month.
