Man, that is a beautiful watch. Can you tell me from which website you purchased this beauty? There should be few (Japanese??) websites (in English) from which one can order overhauled vintage King Seiko and/or Grand Seiko pieces. But i cannot find any of...

It was actually a German website...

Look for it at Chrono24 - should you not find it, I will PM you a link. Glad you like it!

FYI, the engraved "Kanji" (Chinese Characters) on the case back

 By: Luis6 : August 22nd, 2016-16:47
says "Snow Brand Milk Products Co., Ltd.", which is one of the (if not The) largest dairy companies in Japan.

Thank you Luis!

I will then post the upper engraving, too - I guess it says something along the lines \'for 30 years of service \' Once again thanks for the translation!

I will even learn Japanese

Although I speak relatively OK Japanese for a non-Japanese,

I still suggest you to learn it properly from native speakers like Ken.

However much I'd like to...

It will take more time and effort than I can invest at the moment. Maybe there will be a job related need in a couple of years, in which case I would love to learn to speak the language Thanks again for your translation!

Great review

That really is a treasure you have the. Fortunately, it hasn't been polished nor the dial refinished, and the patina it has developed looks perfect. I have had a couple of vintage pieces myself, although not Grand Seiko or Seiko, but never really felt com...

Thanks for your kind words Hagen :)

So far so good, although I am yet to find out where to get my vintage KS looked at. Not sure the Seiko Boutique caters to vintage pieces, too, but worth a try

Not at all great at letting watches go - all still with me All the ones you’ve seen of the 5245-6000 model or were others used, too?

seen and bought

 By: phil.houses : March 6th, 2018-08:09
I've seen 5245-6000 model--- around 3 or 4 for sale in online sites.. saw one 5246-6000 (day/date) but wasn't able to buy it. I got a 5245-6010 - i think the dial is white instead of fabric like and still looking to buy another 5245-6000. Another one in a...

Very interesting...

I have to say I rather like the linen dial but of course some diversity is always welcome

got it

 By: phil.houses : March 9th, 2018-00:42
Got the 5245-6010 and it is also linen dial (a bit whiter when compared to the 5245-6000 (looking at the pictures), so i am not sure what the difference is. Will update you in a few more days when I can compare.. What is the case size for you? maybe the 6...

difference

 By: phil.houses : March 10th, 2018-19:28
The difference in the 5245-6000 vs 5245-6010 is on the case, 6010 looks a bit smaller because of cut angles on the side. I was reading a bit on the history of the King Seiko and found in one of the forums... The 5246-6010 and the 5256-8010 were probably t...

Thanks a lot for clearing this up...

And for the comparison pictures! So any others in the pipeline?

back case

 By: phil.houses : March 11th, 2018-23:51
The back case shape or cut angle is also a bit different.

yes

 By: phil.houses : March 12th, 2018-04:16
6000 and 6010 are both monocoque

Thanks for clarifying, Phil!
