Astron on the streets again

We hit the streets and sand again today after taking the weekend off to observe our first storm in about 5 months.

Lake Cuyamaca, east of us about 50 miles, reported 3.5" of RAIN plus extremely high WINDS. We had less but plenty.
This morning the surf is all blown out and it's a bit chilly, so we are wearing fleece and my wife dug out her goofy knitted cap.

There seems to be a shortage of people out on this Monday morning.

Moving to the bay side of the peninsula, we found the same conditions - windy, sunny and cool.

Not much action.

What is happening is a total breakdown of the customary "behind on your left" or other such warning cries.
Now they (bikes, scooters and skaters) zoom past at high speed with little warning or clearance.
When I first sensed this skater coming, I glanced back to see if it was InDebtButOnTime as he is well known here, but no, it's actually a husky woman skater.

Not all the hippies are gone from this part of town, evidenced by painted utility boxes. But the new money houses are painted vibrantly.
In the old money section we saw a Merceds-Benz 500 CL parked next to a wooden shack that (apparently) was not upgraded since the 1920s.

A risk-taking Michelin fan chooses street parking for his bike.

It's calm by the water, but ...

up near the grass two policemen and a fireman are gently coaxing a quivering homeless guy down from a bad "trip" (it used to be they only had to rescue kittens from trees),
while a group of maniacal exercising women in Lycra shake their legs and booties at him (perhaps the reason for his bad trip?)

Life in 2020!
