.....if you take a long read through the pages of this Rolex forum, you will find some instances of fakes...yes for sure. But actually, the percentage of fakes is remarkably low. I think there is a reason for that, and it is because people who are passionate about vintage Rolex will go through the process of research and dud diligence in order to minimise the risk of buying a fake. I once did a post that aimed to highlight the 5 golden rules of buying vintage Rolex (it has since been edited to add two more). With vintage Rolex you certainly get that element of taking some risks as there are, as you correctly say, a lot of snake-pits out there. However, with good research, good advice and due diligence, you hopefully end up with a vintage Rolex that doesn't have issues and that is a joy to behold....indeed, like the vast majority of collectors on this forum.... nobody is immune to falling for a fake...it can easily happen, but the flip side to that risk is enormous upside when one goes through the correct process of finding a beautiful vintage piece.
