Question on Rolex 16234 (1988)
By: jomni1 : November 9th, 2018-23:46
I saw a listing of a 16234 circa 1988. But it’s has a linen dial and acrylic crystal. Did it come in this configuration? I suspect it’s refurbished with replacement parts. Or the model number is mis-stared.

I guess it's wrong ref number

16234 should have a sapphire crystal and I don't believe there is a linen dial for that model. If I remember correct so was 16234 released in 1989.

I think this is a 16014 from 1980 to 1985, because you can not change the saphire crystall with a plexi. [nt]

16014 does fit the bill.

But a “reputable” watch shop posting the wrong ref number makes me doubt it’s reputation.

I'm asking them.

I like the look of this configuration. The movement inside should confirm the model. 3035 for the 16014.

I checked it out. Glass is sapphire and movement is 3135.

So it’s a 16234. But with the mystery linen dial. Serial starts with R

I found another “linen 16234” with Rolex service card. So did it exist? Or was the card faked. :)

In your first post you are talking from acrylic crystall ............now it is saphire?
By: Walter2 : November 12th, 2018-03:40
The dial, for me is not matching with a 1988 Datejust, but everything is posibel.
