Important caveat when servicing your watch.

I had my 16610LV serviced recently, it was 7 years old, the winding was quite sticky and it was much needed. Rolex did a fantastic job, it felt like a brand new watch. They buffed scratches from the bracelet, and tightened the clasp.

However, one thing that I asked the AD to make sure was not done, was polishing of the lugs to remove scratches. Bracelet scratches and other were fine to fix, but please do not polish the edge of the lugs.

The watch came back and lo and behold, the lugs were polished. Previously I had no idea why people kept going on about unpolished lugs etc, but now I get it. The sharp edge has been completely removed and it is obvious that work has been done to file down the lug. I was very disappointed as you can't return that to its original condition, and who knows, in the future, if I were to ever sell the watch, its value would have taken a hit vs non polished.

I actually blame the AD rather than Rolex. When I mentioned it to them at the start, I should have insisted on seeing them write it down. They staff couldn't understand what the issue was, especially as the movement work came back perfectly.

So just something to beware of. In hindsight, I would insist that I see the AD write down that specific point on the service sheet.

Cheers, Imran

it takes exactly 8 weeks to the London service to completely overhaul a Daytona. Probably the best in the industry. Radu
