Question re 5514 please....
Hello everyone,
I'm not often found on here but like others I have suddenly gotten a desire for a vintage Submariner.
I have a question re the ref 5514 please. Were these produced as non Comex watches or were they all for Comex?
Even if a watch does'n't have the Comex logo on the dial (which I know from researching on here and other places that some don't) should it have Comex and a number on the case back?
Or are there some 5514's that are not Comex watches at all?
I'd be really grateful for any wisdom.
Many thanks,
Vernon.

It is also my understanding that there are 5514 models that did not have Comex on the dial. While having the Comex on the dial is more desirable the markings on the case back are the way to "authenticate". There are a couple of flavors and sizes the the c...

All the ref. 5514 is for Comex only, with or without Comex logo on the dial (about 450 untis) yes, you can find sub number caseback engraving also on the "no-logo" 5514. btw. there are also 5513 comex with logo, 5513 no-logo with HEV (really rare) and eve...

a watch with service papers identifying it as a 5514 and with a serial number dating it to 1977 but with no comex markings on the back or dial? Were there such watches? Are they 'franken watches' or do they count as genuine 5514's? This is very scary for ...
