Just picked this guy up...
from a really good friend, and wanted to share part of my excitement with the community. This is my first, and a long awaited entry into the world of gilt dial submariners.
I think it is hard to do them gilt dials justice basis my crappy iPhone pics, but here are the photos this morning

Tropical dial....
.....is a description that is very loose.....it tends to mean when a dial has started to age to teh point where it has become somewhat brown and unusual. I will post a picture of a Sea-Dweller that I have that has now started to turn tropical. Best Joe

After some research, there is some gold used on the dial, and radium is prefered for the lume (lume shot please).

With a general range of 1964-1966/7 is the date special (dob) or are you just plunging into the world of gilts with both feet. Enjoy Bill

No specific meaning on the vintage (year) but wanted a gilt dial Rolex in the collection. This watch is deepening my appreciation of old world Rolex for sure.

The 5513 gilt is such a beauty ... But i like also the mat dial .... Here, my 1969 meters first Submariner .... ...
