Many people treat them as investments that the scarcity in condition is non existent. In the old days when no one thought of them as investments, they were polished, beaten up, redialed and relumed. Now many people are storing them and making sure they are in pristine condition. So the scarcity driving older Rolex is just not there and will not be.
While they could still appreciate, it’s far less certain and unless you really find odd then I would not make that a consideration.
