I referred to this Monarch in my Breitling B19 post as an “honest watch.”
Why? Because, from my perspective, so many things simply come together here: the construction, the fresh idea behind it, the beautiful design, and also the fair price-to-value proposition.
I had the chance to see the watch during Watches and Wonders, and I was genuinely impressed. For me, it is one of the standout releases of this year’s fair, alongside the Ulysse Nardin Super Freak, the Armin Strom minute repeater, and (ok, I am … „special“) the IWC Ceralume.
Of course, these watches are in completely different price categories. But that is exactly what makes this piece so compelling to me: you are getting an incredible amount of watch for the money.
This watch won me over emotionally right away. I am already on the list with my AD, and as soon as it arrives, I will go and see it in person.
And if it feels as good on the wrist as it did from 30 centimeters away behind the display glass, then I will buy it.
