I like your charactiztion of a Rolex journey...
I have owned many fine watches but never a Rolex. I almost bought a new Submariner (no date) a few months ago and I am still flirting with the idea for 2018; either that or a Panerai. There may be a like phenomenon with Montblanc fountain pens. I ‘turned my nose’ up at them after a long love affair with many different fountain pen brands. A few years ago I bought a MB at a Boutique and have since added 10 more or so. MB is now the anchor of my collection.
