Honestly... I'm surprised too.
These things are generally made by contract. Meaning that they're not made by an Oliver Peoples factory. They're made in some Luxottica factory somewhere in Italy (or Japan) to Oliver Peoples design. So, the screws, which are generic, are that standard low quality generic screw. I'm told by the Oliver Peoples store employees that it's a common problem for the Italian made ones to have a few problems, but the Japanese ones are supposedly relatively trouble free.
Both are good looking frames.
In prescription glasses I would prefer Cary Grant, but in sunglasses I prefer Gregory Peck the best.

I have a couple of pairs of Oliver People’s, sunglasses and regular glasses, I think they are great, that brand and Persol are my favorites.

Oliver Peoples, Persol and Maui Jim (Though MJ´s can be hard to find good looking frames, but their lenses are amazing.)

Lenses could be better.
The lens clarity isn’t perfect. Could be optically clearer. But overall I’m okay with the designs. The screws are also often poor in quality. As the screw heads often are too soft and then the screwdriver doesn’t work. Fortunately this happened in the Oli...

As is most Japanese products.
Was at my AD talking watches a few weeks ago, looking at IWC’s, Heuer, Rolex etc. and the watchmaker came out, said “Just buy a Grand Seiko- trouble free and accurate watch”. Those Japanese ☺️ Thanks for the info 👍🏻
We have Rolex, as a Swiss alternative.
Rolex and Omegas are generally very accurate, reliable, and long-lasting. Anything made in huge volumes, is generally going to be very consistent and reliable. But... Maybe not eyewear, even if they are made in huge quantities.
