This kind of thing on a watch from the 1950s can be stomached on certain terms, but in a modern-era automatic Daytona, this is just damage caused by negligent or indifferent ownership. There's nothing romantic or desirable about it.

Not easy to find one...
This one comes complete and it is unpolished. The ink on the bezel is intact and the edge is sharp. What's interesting is the aging/patina of the dial. I wonder what had caused it to age.
It could be that moisture has got in ...
It’s difficult to tell from the photos. Have you got a photo of the movement ?

they have a very hard time opening the case back so they prefer to send it to their watchmaker to open.
Why?
The staff in the store are not watchmakers, so it is normal for them to feel pressure when the back is too tight and feel more comfortable to be opened by a watchmaker they trust. This is a very high end store.
How did the tip of the hour hand get crunched?...

From these it looks like it was the lighting/shadows...should be OK, but I'm sure you have...

I have a trustworthy friend who helps me see the watch.
The hands are naturally rusty and were not replaced during servicing. I think the extreme closeup creates a weird illusion. Thank you for seeing these images and point out the hands are okay. I wasn't sure what to look at earlier on
If it is this low, I won't even think about it.
The watch comes with box and paper and it is Mk 1 bezel with Mk 2 dial. Ultra rare.

its an L series 16520 with Mk1 200 bezel. a 4 liner! would'nt you like the floating R instead

I'd worry about that damage to the hour hand. Looks like this watch has been opened up by someone perhaps not qualified to open it.
I don't think there is a big damage on the hour hand...
Most late 80s and early 90s 16520 have hands in such condition. The watch was serviced by Rolex service centre .

My apologies, I guess that was a reflection or an artifact of the lighting in the original image. frankly, the dial does not bother me much although I haven't seen such aging on one of these. Good Luck and enjoy!
The dial is indeed a concern as an expert told me...
that the modern era Rolex has a strong protective coat on the dial.

But if you think that the dial is actually a product by Singer...
it has the same effect of watches pre 16520 when it has been oxidised and gain patina, it is quite romantic to me. Maybe I am too romantic...haha

I would pass. Good things come to those who wait. In addition, might be hard to sell if/when you'd want to.
Dial is nice, but...
the watch is so over-polished that it's hard to attract genuine collectors.
