My wife, my daughter and I are all Yale alumni, so we well know how much work that is. Our daughter is also about to finish her graduate degree (Harvard, Master of Public Policy), so I feel your excitement. (For my daughter's graduation present, I'm taking her on a
father-daughter trip to Spain - something I get to enjoy, too. However,
it is costing more than a Datejust. ;-D)
Meanwhile, the watch is a great gift idea, and being in the NYC orbit should make it easy for you to obtain. I second the recommendation of using an authorized dealer. My guess is that the Lady Datejust is less of a cult object than may other models, and will hence be obtainable at retail.
