Sub no date all the way. I own the old version, it's a true strap monster and interestingly it's less common on the streets .
And instead of another vanilla Rolex, wait a bit longer and get the omega railmaster , there will be a non-limited edition coming soon . Based on the master co-axial movement It's basically the explorer and milgauss combined at almost half the price. What more could you want. ;-p

The sub no date is an iconic watch no matter what the year it was made. I also agree it's very strap friendly. I own a 5513 from 1986 and it looks great on straps.
