Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42mm lapis lazuli 7 years! 💥
Feb 21, 2022,18:32 PM
It has been 7 years since I bought this Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42mm lapis lazuli stone dial.
Inspired by some of the latest pos and the latest direction of the brand t I thought I would post a quick review after 7 years
I was always fascinated by brands that are outside the mainstram and back in 2015 I was looking for something special and the Roger Dubuis Ref. RDDBEX0349 fitted well: at 42 mm of size is not too big or bulky with just 10.4 mm of thickness is a perfect daily wearer.
In these years I had many incomings so the watch is pretty much very much new 😁. I still like it a lot so I decided to give it a bit more well deserved wrist time.
The dial color depends very much on lighting as you can see on these photos. This was a LE of 188 pieces but each one is different due to the unique nature of the stone dial.
As far as I recall at that time the only two brands offering a man watch with a lapis lazuli dial were Piaget and Roger Dubuis. The DNA and design code of the Excalibur is bolder and more contemporary. It has now evolved into skeleton, tourbillon (even multiple ones) but the excalibur case stays.
The watch is powered by the in house movement RD622 with Poinçon de Genève Certification, Self-winding mechanical movement with micro-rotor, 133⁄4’’’, 33 jewels, finely adjusted in five positions, rhodium - plated,“Côtes de Genève” decoration. Frequency: 4 Hz (28,800 vph) Power reserve: 52 hours Number of parts: 179 components Thickness: 4.50 mm.
A very pleasant looking movement with a micro-rotor that, from time to time, makes itself heard when you move your wrist. Definitely a watch that I will always have in my collection because of its special features and overall comfort. Back then the price seemed a bit on the high side for a time only watch but, today, it looks like it was almost a bargain 😁
I hope you enjoyed your quick review: how do you like it ? ❓
