Samples of RM050 and RM052 just landed in Tokyo and I had pleasure of handling and spending time with them at Tokyo Boutique.
On the wall of the boutique....

052

The skull inside is not flat, but has curves to give 3D feel.

Tourbillon in its "mouth" - there IS the second hand in it although it is not always "visible".

Such a small movement

... floating and shock absorbing pillars to the case.

Gears in the "eye".

A bit thick - to give the skull 3D feel.

Sure, the back is skull back, too

Outside skull is totally transparent.

Thick, but good for weekend watch - in fact, the impression is not bad at all around here by those who handled it. Simply fun to wear.
052:
Handwind cal. RM052
Power Reserve 48 hours
Case dimension: 50 x 42.7 x 15.95mm
Water resistance: 50m
Grade 5 Titanium Base plate
RM's first-ever open work case.
RG case LE of 6
TI case LE of 15

Very different two.

==============================================================
050 - This is double split - the second hand splits to the one with red head which goes ahead and the other one with white head).

Very familiar RM look.

Movement from the back is as expected beautiful and handsome - THIS is RM.
Titanium Column wheel, Gear wheel, Lever

The 5 o'clock button is for splitting and then getting together the chrono second hand.

The 7 o'clock button is start and stop. The 11 o'clock button is for resetting.

A bit big, but very RM.

Lighter than it may look.

Doesn't look thicker than 052, although actual size says thicker. Fits the curve of the wrist well.

050:
Handwind Cal. RMCC1 (approx. 9.5g, which is 20g lighter than RM008)
Power Reserve: 70 hours
Case dimension: 50.5 x 42.7 x16.3mm
Water Resistance: 50m
Grade 5 Titanium base plate
Titanium Column wheel, Gear wheel, Lever
Carbon case LE of 10
===================================================================
That's it. What do you think? I would go for 050 over 052, although 052 seems to be getting more attention among the already RM owners. Either way, they may have already been spoken for.... :-(
Hope this helps
Ken
PS: Many thanks to Shigeta-san and the staff of RM Boutique Tokyo !
