Richard Mille

RM is certainly not the new FM.... there is a world of difference

between someone who basically copies old watch (mainly Patek) designs, uses and adapts off the shelf movements, and does little in the way of new material/new use research that pushes the boundaries of micro-mechanicals and material science.

Richard's watches are originals.  True, there is a difference between the watches that use the Vaucher movements and the ones that are designed fro scratch at R&P, but then that is reflected in the price point.  Apart from the watch case shape (tonneau) favoured by both, the similarities stop there.

There are a host of other factors I could potentially include, but will not do so as it will get me close to liable, but Richard's design and engineering mantra were revolutionary at the time.  He certainly did not start out using 'off the shelf movements' and dial designs from yesteryear.

The price point you wish to entertain for a watch is a personal concern for the individual.  Some find the watches overpriced; some just have to have one.  But Richard's watches were and are originals and particular to his design and view of a watch.
