Richard Mille RM60-01

Unlike many RM enthusiasts, I prefer the diver models to the tonneau shaped models. Understanding the bigger size might be the deterrent to many, I was pleasantly surprised when I tried on the RM60-01. I always liked complicated watches. As my horological taste matured, I thought simple watches were more classic, therefore safe. I went through few watches with "simple" characteristics but I got bored. So I went back to being complicated with my current collection limited to AP 26124 (Dual time) and IWC 5023-07 (Portuguese perpetual Calendar). With my taste for complicated watches rekindled, I feel the RM is the ultimate complicated watch.
Back to the watch in subject. I tried on the RM60-01 many times and every time I do so, my eye adjusts and focuses on the growing interest for the piece. When I stopped by the NY boutique, a brand new RM60-01 was available on the camo strap. I had to try the watch on again. This particular watch had, I believe the standard length strap which worked much better for my wrist. The RM60-01 I tried on previously had the long strap which had a bigger radius and didn't hug my wrist tight.
This watch, has all the details I enjoy. The multi-functional locking crown, the flat chrono pushers and the beefy bezel. The watch is complicated to the max but all details are in harmony. The pure audacity on this piece is just amazing.
Hopefully in the future, I'll get to own one of the RM diver watches. It would be my ultimate horological achievement.
Close Up
Close up wrist shot. Due to the case thickness, the lugs seem to pass my wrist in this picture but in person, they fit within. Scroll down to the last picture.
Yes, it's thick.
Simple but finished in detail, tang buckle.
And this is my favorite shot. I think I can pull this watch off. But I'll continue my wrist curls at the gym to thicken my wrist.
Thank you for reading.
