Richard Mille

I Think that the publicity that Richard Mille got ....

during the French Open was huge. I think that choosing Nadal to wear the watch was a stroke of genius!! The only thing that , as a fan of RM, concerns me is that most of the comments that I heard and saw were negative and were mostly focused on the price of the watch. The WSJ published an article that was not only incorrect, but somewhat mocking of the watch and the brand. Even during the final, the commentators(one of which was John McEnroe) were commenting on the watch making it a point to say that the cost of producing the watch had to be very small and there was no way a watch should be worth that much. As I mentioned on another post, I know that the concept of a $500k watch is not easy to understand for most people, but it seems that most of the public opinion(of at least the people that are talking in the media) is to ridicule and point a finger to the people that might be interested in the watch, not only to buy it, but to admire the technical innovation and "art" that goes into producing such an object. It seems to me that they are trying to proyect the brand as toys for rich people with no brains. I personally don't care, and I love my RM's more than any of the other watches I own, but I am a little surprised at the of the negative reactions. It's a little like looking at a Van Gogh and saying that it sucks, because you can buy a print at K-Mart for $5. What do you guys think???

Best Regards

Victor
