I was toying with several appropriate titles for this post, and suffice it to say, they all centered around 'drinking the koolaid' so to speak. Allow me to digress..
I recently accepted a new job, and managed to negotiate some blissful unemployment time which was promptly filled with a quick trip south to places warmer than the rapidly cooling city of Toronto. The purpose was for fishing, but as an enthusiastic member of a few watch fora, I saw a perfect opportunity to meet face to face with an internet friend; and besides an evening of great conversation and food, some grailworthy watches were present.
Prior to our meeting, this gentleman teased that all his RMs were in the safe... but upon arrival he could not contain a smile. I should also state for the record, that up until this encounter I had only spent time handling 'entry' RM models such as the 10, 11 and 35. In recent months, I have felt myself getting more and more interested in the various offerings, and have even sought out a few pieces however have yet to take the plunge.
After this meeting however, I have fallen hard, and had to pick my jaw off the ground. The quality, feel and overall fanboy inducing look of these in the metal was just awesome. I will stop gushing now, and share some pictures taken in as best light as I could find. Please excuse any blurriness, I couldn't quite get my hands to hold still!

Some thoughts..
- Excellent pushers, depth to dial and captivating feel on the wrist. The thickness was apparent, but the classic RM tonneau molded very nicely to my wrist.
- Perhaps the rattrapante is superfluous, but who cares.. this is a beautiful and technical piece.
There was one other RM in attendance, and it was another I had never seen in the metal.
Some thoughts..
- Aside from stating the obvious, I will say was very surprising on the wrist in that it did not feel as chunky as one would assume.
- Bold to wear daily, but I imagine the person who desires this piece is not afraid of making a statement.
- The crown has a neat mechanism to lock/unlock the chrono pushers, and the running seconds at 3 o'clock is very cool.
I had to take a movement shot with my Zeitwerk.. which came out with some interesting results
My takeaway from this encounter - I have no doubt an RM will be one of the next watches I pursue. The question then becomes which model, and to that I do not have an answer thankfully, my pockets aren't keeping pace with my eyes.
Thanks for enjoying with me, and be well!
