旭川市 - Asahikawa (January 2020)...
Is the second-largest city in Hokkaido, after Sapporo. The アイヌ (Ainu) called a local river Chiu Pet meaning "River of Waves", but it was misunderstood as Chup Pet, meaning "Sun River", and so the area became known as Asahi-kawa (Asahi meaning "morning sun" and kawa meaning "river"). The Ainu or the 蝦夷 (Ezo) in the historical Japanese texts, are an indigenous people of Japan.
It's my second visit to Asahikawa and fast becoming one of my favorite destinations due to the abundance of nature and mountains in close proximity.

JR旭川駅 (JR Asahikawa Station)

真久寺 (Shinkyu Temple)

常盤公園 (Tokiwa Park) 01

常盤公園 (Tokiwa Park) 02

上川神社 (Kamikawa Shrine)

中別川 (Chubetsu River)

"べてい" (Betty's)
