Thank you for the suggestions. As to storage conditions over a few decades for this film, who knows. All I can say is dry, dark, seasonable to some degree.
My priority is the B&W, and home processing makes sense for tailoring the processing time, temp, chemistry in any way to help recover old latent images. What you said. A challenge ts knowing what accomodations to make to the processing cycle. For sure a little destructive testing could provide some guidance...
I'm finding there are a few labs locally that still handle B&W, and there is one that offers push/pull service up to two stops. I'm considering giving them 3 old plus x rolls and having them develop 1 normal, 1 plus 1, and 1 plus 2 stops. That could pretty much represent the possibilities. Maybe that's all it takes to resolve the 35 mm B&W, with any better outcome being either really expensive, time consuming, or both. Whatever appears best out of the 3 test rolls, I would use that same lab and process for the rest of the 35 mm. Does that make sense to you?
Still thinking about the roll film. And I will definitely check out the lab you noted for the color.
Thanks again for weighing in.
