Photography

Here are some photos by Belgian photographer Léonard Misonne trained as an engineer before discovering photography. Raised in Gilly, Belgium, his subject was mostly landscape and people of Europe in the "pictorialist" style. Pictorialism is a style and ae...  

I think the "creating an image" is lost on so many people attempting photography who do simply record what was there. As a backlash to the pictorialist movement the F64 group that included Ansel Adams who stressed sharpness and "realism" did also "create"... 

sometimes also called "Pure Photography" the style was known for depicting a scene or subject in sharp focus and detail, in " accordance with the qualities that distinguish photography from other visual media, particularly painting ." Wikipedia has a nice... 

...particularly the 3rd and 4th. The 4th one sort of immerses you into it and you have to wonder where those people are going to up that dreadful road. You’re involved rather than just looking. Thanks for showing them. Regards Kev.

I would love to see the actual beach photo in person... I have to keep my eye out for an exhibition of bromoil / gum-prints. Casey

those images are so different and special, sort of postcards really from another dimension of life... I would follow on tat and see if there is some book with a bigger collection of those prints...the impressions from the first photo is almost an atmosphe... 

is an aspect of photography and imagery in general. The way that the first photo is printed creates an atmosphere, particularly with regard to the two children 'by the dark wood on the opposite side of the stream'... One has to start with composition, in ...
