The Tiger Leaping Gorge.

The Tiger Leaping Gorge is the deepest and most spectacular canyon of the Yangtze River. Around 15 kilometers in length, the gorge is located where the river passes between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain( 5,596 meters) and Haba Snow Mountain(5,396 meters) in a series of rapids under steep 2,000 meters cliffs. Legend says that in order to escape from a hunter, a tiger jumped across the river at the narrowest point (still 25 meters wide), hence the name.

Can you see the tiger.

From the top.

At a depth of approx. 3970 metres from the river to the mountain peak it is considered one of the deepest and most spectacular river canyons in the world.

Thanks for looking.

Using google images, we used Lijiang old town as a base/jump off point to places like the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Afterwards, we moved bases to Shaxi old town in Dali.
