Your post sparked memories of that place. I was there 5 years ago..

Using only one lens for 80% of the time, a 50mm which I picked up in HK enroute to Yunnan. There's a side story to that purchase which I might as well share as it's part of a long chain of memories that your post triggered.. so much so that it made me go back to the archives (which I dread doing most days) to check out my pics from that trip. Anyway, at that time, I didn't budget for a lens purchase of any sort and only had a 21mm (my go to lens). You know how it goes.. do you buy a lens or do you save it to buy a watch? Hahaha! Well, long story short, no money for new gear. But I did want to have a lens from lux line up. Who doesn't want to have a 1.4 in the quiver? And as friends go discussing about the next photo safari, we're always talking about gear so that got pretty intense. A bunch of my friends were going to pick up gear in HK and one of them "forced" me to get the lux so I can try it out in Yunnan. And by forced I don't mean the peer pressure type. It was more like one of my friends whipping out a roll of cash, stuck it in my hand, and told me to pay for the lux that he pre-ordered for me together with the other guys. It wasn't free of course but to just pay him whenever.

What was I gonna do? For a brief moment, and I was in HK after all, I wished that it was a Rolex instead :p

To commemorate that trip and to thank Fernando for making me dig up my hard disk (which is just a an arm's length away from my laptop but too lazy to plug in) here's a couple from that trip.

Thanks, Fernando smile

Using google images, we used Lijiang old town as a base/jump off point to places like the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Afterwards, we moved bases to Shaxi old town in Dali.
