I was thinking about a "post yours" thread for tripod photos, but maybe not that popular... but if you got them, please share them... If not a tripod, a wall, a railing, a tree, a car, anything to keep the camera from moving... Casey ...  

I sometimes use a tripod, Manfrotto, for watch pictures, but this is not very funny... ;) Best, Nicolas ...  

Digital high ISO goes a long way to support handheld photography... but there is still a place for the tripod. As well the process is such that you tend to spend some time with each composition. Currently have (1) Manfroto 190 CXPRO4 with 486 head, (2) SL... 

They are heavy and not easy to carry around, so I guess I'd always prefer to make do without a tripod. The trouble is though that I have shaky hands, so hand holding is not always ideal. Someone recommended to me previously to try the bean bag option, but... 

I found a 'kit' at discount that included the tripod and head... This setup has four sections and will fit in a checked airline suitcase. When I am out and about I normally just carry it in my hand without a bag or strap... camera not attached when moving... 

I've got a Gitzo GT1540, which seems to do the job, but still weirdly feels kinda bulky. Like that one of yours a lot and have done ever since I first saw it.

That evening in addition to the tripod I was using a Nikon F3HP with an AI'ed Nikkor-H 2.8cm f/3.5 and a Nikon F3P with an AI-S 50 f1.2... not sure what combination was in play for that photo, but most likely the 50mm. Casey

I agree about the 50 1.2... it's one of my favourite lenses and gets the most use... Here is a list of the other manual focus Nikon lenses... The 85 gets the least use because, comparatively, it's a bit of a monster with 72mm filters and 609g (21.5 oz). A... 

and a BH-55 ballhead. Both built like tanks. Also a Manfrotto 055CXPro with a RRS BH-40 head and for travel a Benro carbon fiber with a RRS BH-30. Mel

I have heard good things about RRS, but they don't seem to have a presence in Japan, at least not one that I could find... Casey

for static shots... architecture... and landscape... I use it so much that I carry it on my camera bag. by the way, do not buy this brand of tripod. Their customer service is awful. I am still looking for a cone collet for the last leg of this tripod afte...  

There is an old steam engine here in Tokyo that I want to get a photo of... waiting for it to cool down a bit... just too hot and humid (for me) to move around much this month... The only way your tripod will become non-functional is if you throw it in th... 

Not a tripod in use but I rested the camera on a traffic pylon I this photo a tripod was necessary, you can tell how it is almost inivisibly blurred due to low light and not so steady hand Cordially Edward ...  

quite different from the "Bluebird" busses I rode on... not very often as I was within walking / bicycle distance from school... Traffic pylons... it would be fun to see a list of things that were used to keep the camera steady ; ) I like the "bus" shot f...

I planned to take a photo similar to yours for months, this morning I stumbled upon a moving train. Not having a tripod but a camera on passenger seat, while waiting for clearance I took a few photos resting my camera on a driving wheel, I am analyzing my...  

is that no matter where you are a train will pass every few minutes ; ) Unfortunately the location in my original photo is no longer available as they moved the tracks underground : ( I agree that setting up with a tripod can involve some pre-planning... ...

with the title of "No tripod .. but a steady hand", I did a double take with the moving carousel roundabout (merry-go-round) as I wasn't expecting any blur... the moon is looking good.
