I had a house near a lake (well, lots of lakes) in Southern Michigan once. We had mosquitos in Summer but my mid-west born and bred friends told me the mosquitos in north Michigan were the size of small birds! I hope they were joking. Regards, MTF

as a kid growing up in the mid-west we heard and told many campfire stories about mosquitos the size of medium sized birds that could 'drain' a kid in seconds...

and went for many a cold swim in Lake Superior... beautiful area. Love to see more photos as we move into summer
