Negative Volume
One of the most difficult things to accomplish in photography is negative volume (Space). That’s normally the job of parallax combined with the minds interpretation of its surroundings. When you take a picture you “frame it”, thereby collapsing it into two dimensions. So achieving space in a photograph is particularly challenging.
This photo achieves that space (imho)
And I’m particularly proud of it.

The narrow spaces are what lead the eye to left foreground to right background in the first and center foreground to center background in the second creating depth and forcing your eyes to look at all the interesting items in this neighborhood. Well done!...

I do more photography than painting these days, but painting was the original impetus for my photography as I used them for studies. I also like the immediacy of digital and the exercise in seeing compositions in the wild.
