Macro, Micro, Close-up...

It's a naming convention, in other words, who cares when viewing the image...

Macro-photography is producing photographs of small items life size or larger... some go as far as stating that it must be taken with a dedicated macro lens that has the capability of achieving the least a 1:1 magnification.

Macro / Micro photography usually refer to the same thing. Nikon names their lenses as 'micro lenses' and Canon calls them 'macro lenses'.

Close-up photography is the act of photographing objects such as flowers or insects in close range so the subject you are photographing fills the frame.

About the mechanical pencils:  The Pilot H-2105 (sadly discontinued) has been my daily use pencil for over 25 years, shows lots of wear, and was back to the factory for service once about 5 years ago... the silver tip retracts into the body when not in use...  The Pilot S10 is the new guy on the block from earlier this year... it has a good feel, but doesn't retract for travel.
