The Owl, an African Scops Owl was tiny, about 10 inches tall. It didnt move, just sat still. Someone said that its mate is probably somewhere near in the tree but we couldn't see it.

Looks like there’s a hole in the tree directly above his head with something in it-similar markings. Your subject wasn’t moving because he was guarding the home.
