Apparently Zaanse Schans is busier and a bit more touristy. Also the mills at Kinderdijk are authentic whereas the ones at Zaanse Schans are more recent (not that you notice). It’s ‘just’ mills at Kinderdijk, nothing more.

Never been there, did you like it? Near Amsterdam you can visit 'The Zaanse Schans'. More windmills and typical houses.
